Enjoy a family day out by taking part in an autumnal sponsored walk for the Together Trust on Sunday 4th October in Tatton Park. Choose from a 2K walk, ideal for parents with small children and prams, or a 5K walk which takes in the beauty of Tatton Park.
People perpetuate a negative view which does not match reality, it's the safest town in Greater Manchester but people portray it as the wild west, I go out in Stockport most weekends and never see trouble or feel threatened but people won't allow facts to get in the way of a good myth.
Stockport has a fantastic live comedy night, 'A Laugh In Stockport' at The Bull's Head on Stockport Market.
The function room upstairs (called The Clubhouse) has a stage and seating. Every 1st & 3rd Thursday of the month there you can see great live comedy from professional comedians.
Big night out
Do you know Stockport has hosted for years a huge, swish and glamour night in the town hall? Its called The Swing Cats Ball, on March 6th. Its a swing/jump music night, glamour, great music, 2 bands & 2 DJ's, wall to wall sounds all night.
Cheshire Life mentioned it
I'll be there again

I feel like Stockport is a place on the up, there is always a good new development going on. The area opposite the peel centre has all just been redeveloped last year and now there is a new Tesco and plans for the Asda area to be rebuilt.
It does have a slight reputation for badly behaved youths but I'm sure its no worse than in any other major town in the country and yes there is still some to do on improving areas like grand central (squares and H+H) but I see a lot of improvement.
I mean, the plaza cinema has been regenerated which is a fantastic building and theres the still rather new Hat museum and the brand new Staircase house museum. And Stockport has a lot of grand architecture which most people might not realise at first but when you add them all up you've got the town hall, the infirmary, the library, all the old factories, the plaza, art gallery, the market building, st marys church and alot of the pubs and probably a lot more which i cant remember and the train station is all new and state of the art.
